Nyala Safari Lodge offers a simple luxury safari experience on the banks of a seasonal river in the Balule Nature Reserve. Because the lodge has only five thatched chalets, you are guaranteed an intimate and personalised safari experience. Ideal for multigenerational groups, romantics and corporate travelers, Nyala has it all covered.
There are plenty of relaxation spaces on site, which include the sun loungers around the pool, the boma area, lounge and bar area. There are also various spots along the wooden viewing decks with seating overlooking the wilderness and waterhole.
Each of the five thatched rondawels offers something different, but all have indoor and outdoor showers, mosquito nets, air conditioning, soft lanterns for ambiance, canvas blinds, and fine linen.
Chalet 1: This intimate chalet faces the riverbed and has a queen size bed. This is a garden chalet with a freestanding bath and is ideal for couples or honeymooners.
Chalet 2: This is a large luxury chalet that sleeps two people on a Queen size bed, but also has room for a third bed. It’s situated in the main garden of the lodge.
Chalet 3: Set among the aloe and fever trees, this chalet overlooks the bushveld and garden. It sleeps two people in Twin beds and there’s room for an extra bed.
Chalet 4: Sleeping two people in twin beds in a chalet with room for an extra bed, this chalet is set back from the lodge and boasts open bushveld views.
Chalet 5: This chalet has an Appleblaar tree set in the outdoor shower area and has views of the bushveld and pool. It sleeps two people on twin beds, and there’s room for an extra bed. Chalet 5 does not have a bath.
Hoedspruit is the closest safari hub to Nyala Safari Lodge and is a buzzing mecca of all things safari. The Balule Nature Reserve is one of many Big 5 reserves served by the Hoedspruit-Eastgate Airport and is easily accessible for guests flying in or arriving by scheduled road transfers.
Resting comfortably on the banks of the Mohlabetsi River in the Balule Nature Reserve, not far from Hoedspruit, is where you’ll find Nyala Safari Lodge. The Balule is an uncrowded reserve in the Greater Kruger, making it a sought-after destination in the area.
There’s an entrance gate to the reserve where self-drivers can leave their cars. A guide will meet you and transfer you to the lodge. It’s not uncommon to see the Big 5 before reaching your destination.
